Corrective Chiropractor in Dunwoody GA
What is Corrective Chiropractic?
Corrective chiropractic care identifies and fixes the underlying cause of your pain: misalignments in your spine that create pressure on nerves and restrict movement.
How Corrective Care Works
Chiropractors understand that one of the main causes of pain and disease is the misalignment and abnormal motion of the vertebrae in the spine. This is called a subluxation.
Scientific research continually demonstrates the tremendously detrimental impact that subluxation has on the tissues of the body. In order to be truly healthy, it is vital that your nervous system is free of interference from subluxations.
Chiropractors are the only health professionals trained in the detection, location, and correction of the vertebral subluxation complex through chiropractic care.
Effective Treatment for Many Common Health Conditions
By identifying and correcting these subluxations, joint mobility is restored and your body returns to a state of normal function.
Numerous studies have demonstrated that chiropractic care is one of the most effective treatments for:
Corrective chiropractic has even been shown to be effective in reducing high blood pressure, decreasing the frequency of childhood ear infections, and improving asthma symptoms.
The Chiropractic Adjustment
Most people feel immediate relief during their first adjustment, even if the “crack” catches them off guard. That popping sound is just gas releasing from the joint (totally normal), and the sensation that follows is usually what patients describe as relieving.
Occasionally you might feel minor discomfort, especially if the surrounding muscles are tight or you’re tensing up. And sometimes there’s no audible crack at all, usually because of muscle tightness or nerves on your first visit. As you relax into the process, adjustments become even more effective.
The adjustment itself is a specific force applied to restore proper position and movement to your spine, removing the interference that’s causing your symptoms.

Chiropractic Care for Expecting Mothers
Pregnant women seek chiropractic care to help with common discomfort, as their body adjusts to a growing baby. As the baby grows in size and weight increases over time, it creates additional stress on your lower back due to the curvature of your lower spine increasing.
Our team at Wilson Family Chiropractic can utilise chiropractic care to treat discomfort in the low back, neck, and shoulders of expecting mothers.
Our team also specialises in the Webster Technique. The aim of this technique is to restore normal biomechanics by correcting misalignments and joint dysfunction to the pubic bone, sacrum, and other structures associated with pregnancy.
Pediatric Chiropractic Care
Pediatric chiropractic care extends from newborns to young athletes. Birth is tough on moms but babies, too. Each delivery process can be different and has the potential to create structural interferences in your child’s spine.
These misalignments or interferences can contribute to delays of their milestones, conditions such as colic, or even discomfort that they aren’t able to communicate to their parents. Chiropractic care for a child looks drastically different from what it does for an adult. Our chiropractic team uses age-appropriate, gentle chiropractic adjustments to correct these interferences in their spine.
Our team also specializes in offering chiropractic care for youth who are active in sports, to keep them operating at their fullest potential!

Frequently Asked Questions
Are chiropractic adjustments safe?
Yes! Chiropractic adjustments are a safe choice for managing musculoskeletal and related systems in your body. Whether you’re seeking corrective care or preventative maintenance, chiropractic care has a wealth of benefits for your body. Dr. Kat and Dr. Jake will conduct a thorough examination, consultation, health history review, and x-rays so your adjustments can be tailored to your specific needs.
How many adjustments will it take for me to see improvement?
Some of our patients may start to feel better after just one adjustment, others may take several adjustments to start seeing the benefits. The answer to this question is highly dependent on your specific health conditions and your daily life.
Do I need to keep going to the chiropractor after my injury or condition is healed?
Patients in our office first go through corrective care to address any health concerns we find and then are recommended to continue maintenance care as preventative maintenance. The frequency and duration of care differ from person to person.
Does your chiropractic clinic accept walk-in patients?
We are not able to guarantee any spots for walk-in patients as Dr. Katherine & Dr. Jacob have limited availability for new patient examinations.
How long should my course of treatment be?
We do not offer any ‘cookie-cutter’ treatment plans in our office. The course of treatment, both duration and included modalities, from one patient to the next can look very different depending on their current health conditions and needs.
Do you accept insurance?
Wilson Family Chiropractic is in network with select insurance companies and programs. We review this with all new patients during their first appointment!
What conditions can chiropractic help with?
Chiropractic care can help with a wide variety of health conditions. Due to our focus on family chiropractic, we can serve patients of any age. Whether you’re pregnant, suffering from headaches & migraines, low-back pain or just looking to optimize your health, we can help!
What does a new patient examination include?
Our new patient examinations include a 2 day process. On the first day we will complete a detailed health history review, complete a thorough examination & consultation, and then take a set of x-rays. On the second day, we will complete a report of findings, and go over our recommended treatment plan for you.
