Common Causes of Headaches & Migraines
Headaches affect just about everyone at some point, and they can present themselves in many different ways. Some people only experience pain in one part of their head or behind their eyes; some people experience a pounding sensation inside their whole head, and some people even experience nausea. The pain itself may be dull or sharp and may last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Fortunately, very few headaches have serious underlying causes, but those that do require urgent medical attention.
Although headaches can occur due to a wide variety of causes, such as drug reactions, temporomandibular joint dysfunction (TMJ), tightness in the neck muscles, low blood sugar, high blood pressure, stress, and fatigue, the majority of recurrent headaches are of two types: tension headaches (also called cervicogenic headaches) and migraine headaches. There is also a third, less common, type of headache called a “cluster headache,” which is a cousin to the migraine.
"When I first started at Wilson Family Chiropractic I had daily headaches stemming from neck pain and kinks, as well as daily back pain and inflammation that would wake me up in the middle of the night.
I’ve now been able to achieve a level of comfort and relief that allows me to better do what I love to do. All in a short period of time I might add. I would definitely recommend as everyone in the office is kind, good intentioned and wholesome. Neighborhood gem ✨ 🏃♀️"

"I have been getting adjusted by both Dr. Jake and Dr. Katherine for about a year now and look forward to it every week. My whole body feels better and I rarely have the frequent headaches I used to have. I used to also have multiple sinus infections and I haven't had one since starting treatment!
It is truly a family friendly office, I love to see all the babies and kids there. They are amazing doctors but also amazing people. You can tell they care about their patients and take pride in their profession."

When to Seek Chiropractic Care for Headaches and Migraines
We recommend seeking professional care if you experience:
- Headaches that surface more than once or twice per week, or are even a dull consistent reality for you.
- Pain that begins in your neck and radiates up into your head as the day progresses.
- You only find relief in dark rooms or with OTC medication.
- A history of whiplash or concussion-related injuries.
We would love to come alongside you to shine a light on the underlying source of your migraines.

Headaches
We have a team of chiropractors to alleviate headache pain through a combination of chiropractic treatment techniques and a reduction of the triggers that bring on these headaches, including those caused by nutrition and lifestyle.
Our treatment for headaches involves gentle chiropractic techniques designed to relieve areas of the spine where there is tightness and restriction of movement, which can often lead to tighter neck muscles. These muscles are often tight from stress experienced in daily life, which is often the root cause of headaches.
Migraines
Migraines are extreme manifestations of headaches that can cause serious pain to patients and even cause them to feel nauseous and lose their sense of balance and focus, making it very difficult for people to engage with aspects of their lives involving work, family, and more.
